Becoming a Freeman
In this issue of the Great Migration Newsletter and in the previous issue we have analyzed the list of Massachusetts Bay freemen admitted on 18 and 19 May 1642, at the beginning of the 1642 Court of Elections. This study parallels and complements our early investigation of the list of freemen for 2 June 1641 [GMN 17:19-22, 27-30] and in a broader sense continues our attempt to determine when the Great Migration ended.

Focus on Immigration
[In the Focus section of the last issue of the Great Migration Newsletter we began to identify those men who were admitted to Massachusetts Bay freemanship on 18 and 19 May 1642 [GMN 19:3-6], and we conclude that process here. Analysis of this information may be found in the lead article in this issue.]

Recent Literature
Marian S. Henry, "Hannah Partridge, Wife of Edward2 Gove of Hampton, New Hampshire," The New England Historical and Genealogical Register 164 (2010):15-22. The author demonstrates that the wife of Edward Gove, son of John Gove of Charlestown and Hampton, was Hannah Partridge, daughter of WILLIAM PARTRIDGE {1638, Lynn}. She also shows that Hannah Titcomb, born 8 January 1641/2, daughter of WILLIAM TITCOMB {1640, Newbury}, who has in the past been suggested as the wife of Edward Gove, had died between 1647 and 1676, and includes genealogical summaries of the families of William Partridge and Edward Gove.
